tour story

Do you recall those bloopers, back-of-house scenes on DVDs?

Those scenes were precious. Called 'Uncut', they offered peeks of fun or unexpected sights of how some blockbuster films were made.

On this walking tour, we take you behind the scenes, where there are no rose-tinted lenses, we share Singapore as it is. At least of whatever that is left.

Along Jalan Besar or ‘Big Road’ (in English), just minutes away from Marina Bay, is a network of side streets of exceptional convenience for vices to thrive. Here, we head off into back-alleys to view the Uncut version of this super city-state.

Juxtaposed against the 'traditional trades', this is also a destination for the cool, the fancy, the hip, and in no time at all the new will soon envelope its intangible cultural edges. A step too late and there’ll be no bling to peel, no hints of the industries that shun the limelight, those pages to turn and expose its underbelly goes crusty.

We’re still ahead of time, but barely. Join us, put on this blockbuster DVD and enjoy the "show" we have curated for you.

  • Dig beneath the surface of an almost forgotten layer of Singapore's society
  • Get our hands (and mind) 'dirtied' through an 'exercise' that has almost vanished in immaculate Singapore
  • Squirm through back alleys and up narrow stairways discovering unfamiliar sights in familiar sites
  • Tingle your tastebud with a favourite snack of the nightlife denizens
Base Prices:
  • $160 per session (For 2 pax)
  • $216 per session* (For 3 pax)
  • $272 per session* (For 4 pax)
*Discount is valid for limited time period only.

  1. Your ‘Untold’ ride sweeping you off from one location to our meeting spot @ $20 flat per person
  2. An ‘Untold’ meal of either lunch or dinner @ $30 per person (inclusive of alcoholic beverage)
  3. Additional hour @ $50 if you find 2 hours too short
What do i need to wear or bring?

Personal water bottle (our tap water everywhere is super safe), comfy walking wear and shoes and an umbrella.

(only for 'Vanishing Craftsmen' please bring along a house/office key for an activity)

What if it rains during the tour?

Looking ahead a day before us meeting, we will update everyone, usually on Whatsapp, of any possible changes or updates. Please look out our messages.

For light rains during or before, the Experience continues unabated. In the event of a potential thunderous shower, we will take a decision 2 hours before our meeting time, the Experience may then be postponed or continued.

Should said shower occur during the tour, we will take a decision then and there. For all postponements, please discuss with us separately.

However, should the weather turn sour while we are deep into the Experience, the host will provide an alternative plan to ensure everyone’s safety first, and carry on as per normal.

I have registered but now I can't make it.

Do DM us at +65 8021 0271 or drop us an email, and we will do our best to make alternative plans/suggestions for you.

May I leave halfway?

Yes, you are not obliged to stay throughout. For whatever reason you need to leave before the end, please inform us so we don't panic and call the police, which is what a panicked us would do ; p

Jan's Singapore Uncut tour was a fantastic experience for the three of us. Although I'd grown up near Jalan Besar and am familiar with Singapore urban history, the stories relayed by Jan were new to me and very fascinating. It's clear that Jan is really passionate about the area and we really appreciated his dedication and curiosity in personally investigating the lesser known stories of the area. The tour was well-paced, fun, personal and we had a great time in spite of (or perhaps because of) the intermittent rain. I would highly recommend Jan's tours to anyone looking for something a little off the beaten track.

Had a great time on the tour with Jan as our guide! Really appreciated Jan's passion and knowledge of the Jalan Besar area, and learnt so much which as a local we would have so easily taken for granted. Great activity for folks interested in doing something different in SG!

I went on a tour with our lovely tour guide Jan; I didn't realize how the two hours went by thanks to his engaging, and interesting way of story telling and sharing fun facts. Also the yummy Singapore's local delicacies he kept offering us along the tour was another bonus! I highly recommend Jan and his "Offbeat Singapore" tours to everyone who is interested in learning more about Singapore's hidden gems and having fun while learning!
